Billing Policy and Fee schedule
I bill for time with a patient as well as on behalf of a patient. This may include additional family or professional consultations, preparation of reports that are needed or that you directly request.
Fees for individual psychotherapy or couple counseling and consultations: $200+
depending on type and length of session
Group medical psychotherapy is $100.
I can see some patients on a sliding scale. If I cannot provide the services you need at a rate you can afford, I will be happy to recommend alternatives for you to consider.
How does insurance work?
Your insurance or company health plan may provide for mental health care reimbursement
Although, I no longer participate in any direct insurance company networks, my services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan for “out of network providers”.
Our contract for service is between you and me directly. You will need to apply for reimbursement for therapy fees yourself. I will provide you with the necessary paper work to file a claim.
I will work with you to insure that you get the maximum benefit that you are entitled to from your insurance plan.
Payment for the initial consultation is due at that meeting.
I can accept credit card or checks
For regular therapy sessions I can bill monthly.
Please call so we can discuss your specific needs.
To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you should do is check directly with your insurance carrier.
Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have mental health benefits?
- Does my plan permit coverage for an out of network provider M.D. psychiatrist?
- Do I need preauthorization?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
- What is the dollar amount of the usual and customary fee you approve
How much does my plan cover for individual medical psychotherapy (CPT code 90807)
(I am a board certified psychiatrist M.D.)
- What is my deductible per year and has it been met?
- How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
- Do I have a maximum limit on number of sessions per year or some type of limitation or benefit cap ?
What if I cannot come to an appointment. ?
Since I reserve and schedule a time specifically for you, I do bill for the time you reserved if you have not given me at least 24 hrs notice.
Please do not hesitate to ask ANY questions.

Three general exceptions are:(a) suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse; (b) if a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person the therapist is required by law to notify the police; (c) if a client intends to harm himself or herself. In those circumstances a therapist must alert law enforcement or appropriate authorities.
